Insurance and Payment  

We are considered in 'in-network’ providers for the following insurance companies:

• Ucare

• Blue Cross Blue Shield

• Preferred One

• BHP

• HealthPartners

• Medical Assistance

• Aetna

• Optum plans: Medica, UMN, and United HealthCare*

• Medicare*

We know insurance can be confusing. We hope to collaborate with you so that it can be as clear as possible.

Please check with your insurance company to understand your benefits even if Joel Grostephan is in network a provider. You may have a deductible and some out of pocket expense even if you are in network. If you have other insurance, check on your out-of-network benefits. You may still have coverage you can use for therapy.  

If you do not use insurance the clinics out of pocket fee starts at $200 for a 55 minute hour of therapy. However, we do have a sliding scale for people who have a high deductible or are not able to use their insurance for some other reason.

*If you have Medicare or an Optum plan such as Medica, United Healthcare or UMR, Joel is the only therapist who can bill your insurance. Other clinicians may be able to work with you but you would not be using insurance.
