Robert Miller, MA, LAMFT

I believe we all have the power within us to get to the healing, healthy growth, and development we need. My hope is that we can work together in a collaborative way to make that happen for you and your important relationships. I utilize the collective wisdom of the healing and growth of others to bear on the present moment.

My clinical approach is based in humanistic, relational and family systems therapy, as well as solution-focused, cognitive behavioral, and dialectical behavioral therapy models. I am particularly inspired by the work of Virginia Satir and Carl Whitaker.

I am drawn to work with families and couples though I see many individuals. I work with clients on anxiety, depression, coparenting, relationship stress, trauma and substance abuse.

I completed my Masters of Arts in Counseling at St. Mary’s College of California, Moraga in 2019. I am under supervision to get my LMFT.

In session I seek to work in the here and now, looking for themes that lead to deep, habitual -- sometimes intergenerational -- patterns of thought and body sensations that may be blocking or limiting a fuller aliveness in the moment. Whatever the issue, we get to look at it and work with it and see what can be done with it, to allow you to live more spontaneously, freely and openly.

I read widely in philosophy, theology, art and literature, which informs my view of human nature, and human existence. In my free time, I love spending time on the road on my bicycle.
